With the introduction of humanoids like Asimo, I cub, Atlas
unplugged, Romeo, Petman and many more; the robotics world has reached a whole
new level. With each passing days we are witnessing more powerful and user
friendly robots for almost every task. They are not only smart enough, but
getting a huge popularity as well. Robots are playing a very important role in
the evolution of technology, and robotics education has become one of the hot
topics in recent times. Robotics companies should be thankful to Apple,
Nintendo and Microsoft and other market players working on artificial
intelligence. Defunct start up ‘Willow Garage’’ has initiated the ROS robot OS
project and making it clear that robotics has a robust future.
But still there is a huge gap between the corporates and the
citizens or there are lesser sources to perform or learn robotics in distant
areas. In the countries like USA and Germany students have already started
learning robotics from the middle school itself. But if we talk about India,
then we don’t think that there is a need of any explanation on this issue. Excluding
a few schools there are still millions of students completely unaware of the
term robotics, and they won’t even think that they could be able to learn robotics
during their school life. Leave robotics, they don’t even know about the basics
of electronics. But the fault is not their’s, as it’s our education system that
has the flaws. We are just focussing on the generations old education system with
the same concepts and the same books. But the technology growth is speeding
enormously and it’s not possible to cope up with this ever connected world by
just following the old schooling system.
The only way in which we can make this change happen is by introducing the robotics education in schools. The reason behind, is that the young generation and the young minds are more curious to learn and adopt the change. By introducing robotics to school kids, we can be able to teach them the basics of science and technology. And the early introduction of programming and embedded electronics will surely boost their tendency to learn the new technical concepts.
Here we are going to present a few points to support
introduction of Robotics in schools.
1.
Robots are awesome and they will continue to amaze
homo-sapiens. We humans are fascinated with
the technology from years and our imagination has gifted us some of the heavily
awesome technological devices. We’re quit obsessed with building smart and
automated machines that can make our tasks easier. Believe it or not but the robots are here to stay, so it would be better
if we get used to it…and the best way is
it to start it as early as we can.
2.
Robots have emerged significantly and there are
innumerous movies in which robots have appeared or dominated as a lead character.
Whether you talk about the Jetsons, the Terminators, I Robot, R2D2, Stepford Wives, Transformers and hundreds of other
such movies. And the young minds always feel quite curious about these movies. And
by letting them understand the basics, we can make them learn about the science
behind how things work which will undoubtedly lead to a better future for
posterity.
3.
Robots are almost everywhere today, and
technology has been a much similar to be understood by a common person without
and prerequisite knowledge in this field. Thus making it easier for school kids
to understand the term and implement it in a more significant.
4.
In the coming 4-5 years robotics is going to be
far better, more reliable, and more affordable and the most important more
feasible. And they would be more close to the ones that you have seen in
fiction movies till date. So, it’s obvious that the persons with better skills
in robotics will rule the world, thus we can make the kids future ready.
5.
Robotics is a rapid-growing industry, with
wide-range of applications to make this world a better place and carries
enormous creative freedom. It’s virtually unregulated as well thus opening a big
room for a lot of creativity, and technical approach.
6.
It’s an open source era with cross-disciplinary
approach. Robotics offers great chance to learn and interact with computer
programming, physics, social and ethical dimensions, engineering, chemistry and
bio-technology in a more productive manner. Thus making kids learn to work in teams.
7.
And at last, it’s the beginning. Robotics is
fun and of course great source of knowledge.
Thus it’s a great idea to make kids learn about robotics. As
in our opinion, this is the only way in which we can make a technically
advanced India. As it’s been said from years that ‘’THE EARLIER YOU START, THE
FAR YOU GO’’. Happy Roboting guys.
